It isn't that what you're doing is useless, dear Moonchild - it's just that you probably think your efforts are not going to bring in the rewards you are hoping for. By undermining the way you are preparing or studying for something that's important to you, you are also giving it less value. You have to do the groundwork for an important project. Try to see its importance as you work through it. Thinking of it that way will help you recognize its value, and that's important.
